Cardiac PET imaging using the F-18 LMI1195 radiotracer was safe and effective in imaging abnormalities of the cardiac sympathetic nervous system, caused by increase in norepinephrine release and decrease in cardiac norepinephrine reuptake, according to a study in the Journal of Nuclear Medicine that enrolled 12 participants. The new PET tracer "demonstrates no safety concerns, rapid blood clearance, and extraction by the heart with stable myocardial activity over five hours and a favorable biodistribution for cardiac imaging over the same period of time," wrote Albert Sinusas and colleagues.
