Nicole Perlman says working with Marvel Comics on her much-anticipated screenplay "Guardians of the Galaxy" has been refreshing after experiencing gender bias toward her science-fiction writing. "There's this idea that a female screenwriter who is writing science fiction and not romantic comedy is a bit of a dancing bear," said Perlman, who will speak on a panel alongside other women in the sci-fi industry at Comic-Con this week. "There just aren't enough women getting the chance to work in this genre, and I hope this is the start of a larger trend because there are so many great women working in film," she added.
