Consumers 55 years old and older accounted for 40% of all ice cream consumption in Europe's $2.7 billion market last year, driven by a large older population, particular in Germany, various price ranges, long storage life and soft texture suitable for dentures, according to Canadean Senior Analyst Catherine O'Connor. "The key for manufacturers is extending a range of products to reflect a multitude of needs among older consumers, rather than treating them as a homogenous group," O'Connor said.
