Sinclair Broadcast Group's restructured acquisition of Allbritton Communications' TV stations has been approved by the Federal Communications Commission. Sinclair removed two so-called sidecar pacts from the overall deal to gain the approval of the FCC, which has recently adopted stricter rules governing such arrangements. Republican FCC member Ajit Pai criticized the need for the changes and said the stations involved would have benefited from the sidecar deals.
