U.S.-based Sapphire Energy and China's Sinopec have agreed to work together to build a demonstration-scale algae-to-biofuel plant in China. "We believe this will help us continue to validate what we have accomplished in New Mexico," said Sapphire spokesman Tim Zenk, referring to the company's algae-to-fuel operation in Columbus, N.M. The Sapphire-Sinopec partnership was among six projects chosen for the U.S.-China EcoPartnerships Program.
