Seals appear to be finding prey near offshore wind farms, which researchers theorize may act as artificial reefs, according to a study in Current Biology. Scientists noticed tagged seals were swimming in two active wind farms off the coasts of Germany and England. "This is the first time marine mammals have shown use of these artificial structures for foraging," said marine ecologist Deborah Russell, the study's lead author.
