Air & Space magazine explores the history of flight training and whether a pilot's first airplane affects his training; many flight schools throughout the country train pilots on fleets of aging aircraft. "We need people to fly airplanes first," says Robert Rockmaker, CEO of the Flight School Association of North America. "The age of the airplane does not have a direct relationship to the quality of the pilot."
