The American Petroleum Institute has again asked the Environmental Protection Agency to finalize the 2014 Renewable Fuel Standard mandate at the earliest time possible and begin finalizing the 2015 requirements to comply with the Nov. 30 deadline. "This is the longest, most unreasonable delay in a history of long, unreasonable delays when it comes to implementing the RFS under this administration" since 2011, said Patrick Kelly, senior policy adviser at API. The delay could hurt refiners with higher compliance costs and hamper their production to meet fuel demand, API said.
