Technological advances such as sensors, and the data they produce, could help manage critical infrastructure such as bridges, writes Stephen Goldsmith. "By harnessing data, and coupling technology advances with public-private partnerships, transportation agencies in cities and states across the country can help make our infrastructure last longer while policymakers try to find consensus on how to fund the country's roads and bridges for the next half century," Goldsmith contends.
