The Center for Digital Democracy has told the Federal Trade Commission that 30 U.S. firms haven't followed through on their commitments to the EU Safe Harbor framework meant to protect the privacy of EU residents. The companies are said to include Salesforce.com, Adobe Systems and AOL. "The commercial surveillance of EU consumers by U.S. companies, without consumer awareness or meaningful consent, contradicts the fundamental rights of EU citizens and European data protection law," the group says in its complaint.
