Hilton's push to transform the company into a mobile-first enterprise required much more than a technological face lift, according to chief information officer Bill Murphy, who says the move involved the transition of IT from back-office operations to front-office strategizing. Murphy says getting the resources on task for a complete mobile overhaul required a consolidation of a silo-based IT model and a revamp of his IT department to focus on business functions over systems.
