In an analysis of data on almost 60,000 breech birth deliveries, Dutch researchers found that vaginal delivery was associated with a tenfold increased risk of death compared with C-section. The number of women with babies in a breech position who underwent elective C-section rose from 24% to 60% between 1999 and 2007, contributing to a decline in infant deaths. The findings appear in the journal Acta Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica.
