Survey data from college-age women linked dieting when they were younger to an increased risk of eating disorders, obesity and alcohol abuse, according to Florida State University researchers. In addition, the surveys, which were taken periodically from 1982 to 2012, found the average age at which dieting began gradually increased from 14.6 to 15.4 years. The findings were scheduled for presentation at the Society for the Study of Ingestive Behavior annual meeting.
