Patients whose excessive focal sweating continues during sleep do not have primary focal hyperhidrosis, pediatric dermatologist Jane Bellet says. Symptoms such as vomiting, stomach pain, fever, headache, weight loss, palpitations or anorexia may point to a secondary cause of hyperhidrosis. Certain drugs can also cause sweating problems, Bellet says.
