The U.S. economy gained 209,000 jobs in July, which was below the 233,000 jobs that economists polled by Reuters had expected and the 298,000 jobs added in June. The unemployment rate rose to 6.2% from 6.1% the prior month, according to the Labor Department. Employers have added 200,000 or more jobs per month for each of the past six months.
