Samsung Electronics plans to open its network to developers later in the year to allow third-party products and services to link with its Galaxy smartphones and smart watches to activate appliances on its Smart Home platform. A new report suggests there will be a broad U.S. audience for connected devices in the home: Nearly 70% of those polled expect to adapt the technology within five years, according to a study from Acquity Group, a digital marketing firm.
