Bruegger's Bagels has launched a promotion allowing customers to buy a membership and then collect free refills of coffee, soda and tea throughout 2018. Members of the Bottomless Mug Club pay between $149 and $209 to join, with prices varying by location.

Caribou Coffee will acquire Bruegger's Bagels, a 269-unit chain, for an undisclosed amount. Caribou Coffee parent JAB Holding Co. is the owner of a growing portfolio of restaurant brands including Panera Bread, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts and Einstein Noah Restaurant Group.

Groupe Le Duff's US subsidiary, Le Duff America, aims to expand its Bruegger's Bagels and La Madeleine Country French Cafe chains by focusing more aggressively on franchising, said Olivier Poirot, the former Sodexo executive who took over as CEO last summer. The company will also revamp the menu at its Mimi's Cafe chain and open up to six company-owned Brioche Doree locations in 2017.

Investment firm JAB Holding Co. is combining parts of its coffee and food brand empire with co-branded restaurants. Coffee & Bagels, which sells coffee from Caribou and Einstein Bros. bagels, could be the first of many concepts that may include combinations of the company's Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Keurig Green Mountain, Stumptown Coffee Roasters and other brands.

JAB Holdings will acquire Lakewood, Colo.-based Einstein Noah Restaurant Group for $374 million. JAB owns Peet's and Caribou Coffee, along with non-food brands Jimmy Choo, Bally and Belstaff. Einstein Noah operates, franchises or licenses 855 bagel shops under the Einstein Bros., Noah's New York Bagels and Manhattan Bagel banners.
