A report from Kagan has revealed that many consumers are engaging in cord-switching, or shifting to streaming services such as DIRECTV Now and Sling TV. Nonetheless, recent Nielsen data revealed that 93% of households with a streaming service still watch traditional TV, with the report noting, "As the average American now has more ways than ever to view content, the resilience of traditional programming is impressive in today's digital age."
Windstream CEO Tony Thomas outlined the regional telecom's video strategy, describing it as a mix of broadband and over-the-top offerings. Windstream, which provides video through AT&T's DIRECTV Now OTT service, can compete effectively against cable on its bundle's value, Thomas said.
