College tuition growth slows as competition rises

Tuition rates at colleges and graduate schools grew by 1.9% for the year ending in June 2017 -- a rate which is on pace with inflation -- after outpacing inflation with an average growth of 6% from 1990 through 2016, data show. Experts note that the drop comes as colleges offer tuition discounts to compete for a dwindling number of high-school graduates.

US to expedite H-1B visas for higher ed

H-1B visa requests from higher-education institutions and nonprofit and governmental research organizations will be expedited again, according to a release from the US Citizenship and Immigration Services. However, the program's general suspension, put in place by the Trump administration in April, remains for companies.
