- AIA: Pacific "pivot" will offset declining arms sales in Europe
U.S. arm sales to Asia as part of the Pacific "pivot" should offset any declines in sales to Europe, according to a recent forecast by the Aerospace Industries Association. The pivot "will result in growing opportunities for our industry to help equip our friends," said Fred Downey, vice president for national security at AIA. Reuters

- Boeing stays on schedule for leaving Wichita, Kan.
Boeing is on track to close its manufacturing facility in Wichita, Kan., by early 2014. The aircraft manufacturer has been in Wichita for almost 85 years. "One of Boeing's biggest successes in this transition is that they continue to deliver outstanding results to the customers, even with everything going on," said Boeing Wichita spokeswoman Michelle Nalley. - Michael Huerta is confirmed as FAA chief
The Senate has confirmed Michael Huerta, the acting administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration, as the chief of the agency. Huerta began his tenure as acting administrator in 2011 after Randy Babbitt's departure. Huerta, whose nomination had been blocked for several months by then-Sen. Students at David Thibodaux STEM Magnet Academy in Lafayette, La., elect to follow career pathways in fields such as engineering and biomedicine. "We really focus on high-wage, high-skill careers," principal Jeff Debetaz said.
