The Senate voted to end debate on a bill for a continuing spending resolution to fund the government and avert a shutdown. The $982 billion bill also includes a 2013 Pentagon appropriations bill. The current continuing resolution expires on March 27. Defense News

Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel has asked the Pentagon to review its strategy in light of recent budget cuts from sequestration. Boeing has decided to use the tougher Radio Technical Commission for Aeronautics standard for testing its 787 batteries. Boeing spokesman Marc Birtel said the aircraft manufacturer did not use the standard before because it was developed "after we had completed our certification plans and begun our testing efforts." - Air Force plans to launch SBIRS GEO 2 satellite today
The Air Force plans to launch a satellite today to track missiles around the world. The Space Based Infrared System Geosynchronous satellite, or SBIRS GEO 2, will launch atop a United Launch Alliance Atlas 5 booster. "SBIRS is bringing unprecedented new capabilities into service to support our mission areas, which are missile warning, missile defense, technical intelligence and battlespace awareness," said Col.
