ViaSat has confirmed that it plans to offer "hundreds of gateways" for its upcoming ViaSat-3 satellites to ensure that they can uphold the company's 1 terabit-per-second throughput goal, per Chairman and CEO Mark Dankberg. He added that the company's research and development team has developed new gateway technology that is more economical and will help it regain the $100 million it invested in its ViaSat-1 system.
Sling TV has expanded its Best of Spanish TV package to include History en Español. The service includes on-demand content and a 24/7 live network for $10 per month as a stand-alone package or $5 per month when added to packages such as Sling Orange and Sling Blue.
ViaSat says that its sales jumped to $416.4 million in the fourth quarter of 2017, marking a 12% year-over-year increase. The company is attributing the growth to residential internet and in-flight Wi-Fi business and strong government communications contracts.
