- W-Ds mobilize to combat bustouts
Technology distributors are especially vulnerable to bustouts, a type of credit fraud that can result in a company's financial ruin, this article says. ScanSource Inc. has combined T2 Supply and Paracon, two of its sale units, into a single, comprehensive communications solutions value-added distributor called ScanSource Communications. "...[T]his is a confirmation that communications is thriving and we need to make a larger investment in it," ScanSource CEO Mike Baur said. - Don't take access denial personally
An employer's denial of weekend building access to an eager worker may have nothing to do with trust and more to do with issues of overtime pay and making sure time is being used effectively, a leadership expert says. Security issues also may be at play, and usually only top officers are given after-hours access to a company's offices. American City Business Journals

- Beware basing a raise request on the boss's good mood
The seemingly simple logic of waiting until your boss is in a good mood to ask for a raise is far more complicated than it may appear on the surface, according to recent research, which suggests that if the boss knows the employee knows that he or she is in a good mood, the raise request perhaps should be put off. The research revealed that an employee is more likely to ask for a smaller raise if he or she knows the boss is cognizant of the employee's awareness of the boss's good mood. Forbes
