- Nissan unveils electric car, the Leaf
Nissan unveiled its electric car, which seats five and creates zero emissions, in Los Angeles on Friday. The Leaf, a hatchback that runs on a lithium-ion battery, will be available next year in some areas of the U.S., Europe and Japan. The company says it will cost slightly more than similar size gas-powered vehicles and can go 100 miles on a single charge. Los Angeles Times

- AAIA's Kathleen Schmatz featured on SIRIUS NASCAR Radio during AAPEX
On Tuesday, Nov. 3, AAIA President and CEO Kathleen Schmatz and AAIA board member Odis Lloyd of NASCAR, were featured on SIRIUS NASCAR Radio's "Tradin' Paint with Rick Benjamin and Chocolate Myers" radio show. The discussion was broadcast live from the Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas moments after the opening ceremonies kicked off AAPEX 2009. Schmatz and Lloyd discussed the celebration and strength of the industry and the excitement of this year's show, as they were interviewed right in the midst of thousands of AAPEX participants. - PBES announces dates for 2010 conference
The Paint, Body and Equipment Specialists have recently announced their 2010 spring conference dates. The segment conference will be held April 27 to 29 at the Embassy Suites Phoenix-Scottsdale in Phoenix. Industry professionals should expect to receive a save-the-date postcard in the month ahead.
- PBES to rejuvenate membership
In an attempt to retain and recruit members, the Paint, Body and Equipment Specialists are working to add value for their members. At the PBES fall meeting in September in Boston, the committee felt it was important that the members have an opportunity to connect to the segment on a regular basis.
