Looking back at 2007

Over the course of 2007, I have been pleased to deliver to you the news that matters to your business and industry. Part I of this NAW SmartBrief special year-end report rounds up the most important trends, stories and events of the past year. Part II, which will hit your inbox on Thursday, will provide a glimpse into what's in store for 2008. From the increase in private-label manufacturing, as well as the domestic distribution of private labels, and China's emerging business market to big mergers and acquisitions and high gas prices, the major trends in 2007 kept wholesaler-distributors on their toes. For its part, NAW worked hard to prevent legislation that would have negative effects on the industry, including the LIFO repeal and various tax issues. Conferences and meetings this year took NAW members to Chicago for the Billion Dollar Company Roundtable and for the Large Company Networking Conference and Roundtable, and to Washington, D.C., for the NAW Executive Summit. It's been a busy and exciting year!
