- American Tire expands in Texas with Homann Tire buy
American Tire Distributors Inc. has purchased Homann Tire Wholesale, including the company's five wholesale distribution centers, for an undisclosed sum, broadening the company's reach across Texas where four of the distribution centers are located and giving it its first Louisiana distribution facility. The sale does not include Homann's two retail outlets, which are located in the San Antonio area. American City Business Journals/San Antonio

- Study: 401(k)s will replace 22% of income for younger workers
A new study says that young workers who will retire in the middle of the century can expect 401(k) accounts to replace just 22% of their income. Members of Congress jumped on the findings of the Government Accountability Office study to push for an overhaul of the nation's pension system. Just 36% of people participate in 401(k) plans or similar plans in 2004. Los Angeles Times
