- Airlines get creative in finding fuel-saving measures
Travelers may be all too aware of airline adjustments to soaring fuel prices such as charging extra for baggage, but airlines are taking additional measures that many may not be aware of. JetBlue, for instance, is flying slower to save fuel, and an official with the company said that by slowing down just two minutes per flight, the airline can save $13.6 million annually. - Workplace weight-loss programs show modest results
An analysis of 11 studies of employer-sponsored weight-loss programs shows workers who participated shed from 2.2 pounds to about 14 pounds, compared with workers who did not participate and averaged a loss of 1.5 pounds to a gain of 1.1 pounds. Programs that incorporated monthly face-to-face contact seemed to result in better success, the researchers noted. Reuters
