- Staples raises its previous offer for Corporate Express by 14%
Staples Inc. on Tuesday raised its all-cash bid for Corporate Express NV, after the Dutch office-supply company recommended that shareholders support a proposed merger with Lyreco SAS of France. After Staples upped its bid, Corporate Express said it would
"carefully review this increased offer," but Staples CEO Ron Sargent asserted that at the new price of $14.21 per share, "there is no question that Staples' offer is the superior choice for Corporate Express shareholders." Forbes/Thomason Financial
