- Grainger buys McFeely's
Lab Safety Supply, a W.W. Grainger subsidiary, has acquired McFeely's Square Drive Screws. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Grainger said it expects the acquisition to expand Lab Safety's woodworking and construction markets. Houston Chronicle/Associated Press

A 2004 survey by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Resources found that 32% of businesses with fewer than 10 employees offered insurance coverage versus 96% of companies that have 50 or more. Many states, including Massachusetts, Oregon and Tennessee, either have in place or are considering some form of universal health care, which would aid entrepreneurs and their employees. A new AP-Ipsos poll found that one in five vacationers now brings a laptop along.
