Study: Stimulus checks result in increased spending
Consumers are spending their economic-stimulus payments from the government at significant rates, according to a preliminary study. Checks totaling $90 billion have gone out so far, and families receiving their payments increased spending on food, drug products and other daily purchases by 3.5% compared with those who had not received their checks.
