US toy sales rose 16% to reach $25.1 billion last year, as the pandemic drove families to find more ways to entertain themselves at home, according to NPD Group. Sales through March were tracking with the same period in 2019, followed by a surge as lockdowns started, and May sales grew 38% as consumers started spending their first relief checks.
