The National Institute of Food and Agriculture has awarded an $8.9 million grant to New Mexico State University for a beef production sustainability study. Researchers with the school's College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences will focus on finding ways to improve cattle ranching in the Southwest as vegetation in the area changes from grass to shrubs and the climate gets hotter.
