Study ties race, ethnicity to cardiometabolic health in midlife women

Findings in The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism showed that black and Hispanic middle-aged women were at an increased risk for incident metabolic syndrome after adjusting for several factors, compared with Chinese, Japanese and non-Hispanic women. Researchers used a cohort of 3,003 midlife women from the Study of Women's Health Across the Nation and found a lower incident metabolic syndrome risk among physically active women, compared with those who were physically inactive.
