Scientists used a blue laser diode and nonlinear crystals inside a CubeSat satellite to demonstrate that quantum entanglement is possible in space, and they describe the process in Optica. "In the future, our system could be part of a global quantum network transmitting quantum signals to receivers on Earth or on other spacecraft," says study author Aitor Villar.
