Load balancing in air conditioning systems could allow for a simpler transition to renewable energy, University of Michigan researchers say. The school has received a $2.9 million grant from Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy to study the effect that cycling air-conditioning systems at appropriate times can have on grid reliability.
