Fish came back to dead coral reefs in Australia when researchers played the sounds of a healthy reef over an underwater loudspeaker, a study published in Nature Communications suggests. "Reefs become ghostly quiet when they are degraded ... but by using loudspeakers to restore this lost soundscape, we can attract young fish back again," says study author Stephen Simpson.
