MIT researchers have developed a wearable device that can manipulate the theme of a person's dream and describe it in Consciousness and Cognition. The device sends audio prompts when it senses that the user has entered the semi-alert stage of sleep known as hypnagogia, enabling what the researchers call "targeted dream incubation."
