Japan's Hayabusa2 spacecraft touched down briefly on the asteroid Ryugu to attempt to collect a sample of material out of the crater the probe created in April, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency officials said. The agency plans to bring any material collected by the probe back to Earth sometime next year.
