Ethicists and scientists from seven countries recommended a global moratorium on gene-editing involving human sperm, eggs and embryos. In the journal Nature, the panel of 18 experts called for an international governance framework to "place major speed bumps in front of the most adventurous plans to re-engineer the human species."
