Microsoft will bring its broadband Airband Initiative to rural areas across six states in a partnership with Nextlink Internet under which Microsoft will use white space technology that leverages unlicensed TV spectrum. Nextlink will receive $281 million over 10 years years through the federal government's Connect America Fund II program to serve parts of Nebraska, Oklahoma, Iowa, Illinois, Texas and Kansas.
