Federal Communications Commission Chairman Ajit Pai gave his blessing to T-Mobile's proposed $26 billion merger with Sprint after the carriers agreed to wire rural areas, bring high-speed wireless service to most of the US within a few years and sell off Sprint's Boost prepaid service. Pai said the merger, which still needs full FCC and Justice Department approval, will close the rural-urban divide and hasten 5G development.
