Businesses with claims against them survived 56% longer than businesses without any claims, according to an Oregon State University study of 100,000 in-state companies from the past quarter-century. "When it's cheaper to pay nominal fines for violating workplace regulations than to provide safe workplaces, that indicates current safety regulations are not enough to protect workers," the researchers concluded.
