New Mandatory Cybersecurity Requirements for Defense Contractors

Late last month, the Department of Defense (DOD) published an interim rule that amends the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) and requires a Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) framework in all defense contracts. This makes CMMC certification a "go/no go" factor for defense contractors to do business with the federal government (whenever the solicitation and contract requires certification), with a complete phase in of the rule's requirements for all defense contractors by 2026.
