Contractors can't file a construction lien for consequential damages that exceed the value of the contract, according to a recent Michigan Court of Appeals ruling. The ruling was a reversal of an arbitrator's decision to approve a lien for TSP Services that was worth more than the unpaid balance from its contract with National-Standard.
