The San Jose City Council last month passed an ordinance that will require paying a prevailing wage to construction workers on select city-subsidized private construction projects. "We want the city to incentivize downtown development that benefits the entire community and creates good quality, career-path construction jobs for local community members," wrote Santa Clara & San Benito Counties Building & Construction Trades Council's David Bini and South Bay Labor Council's Ben Field in a letter.
