Report urges schools to expand focus on SEL

A report from the Aspen Institute's National Commission on Social, Emotional and Academic Development recommends schools weave social and emotional learning throughout all school-day activities and branch out into the community. The report's authors say instilling characteristics such as empathy and perseverance not only improves students' lives, but their academic performance as well.
