Ga-68 PSMA PET including CT, MRI promising in prostate cancer imaging

Researchers at the University of California at San Francisco found that PET/CT or PET/MRI with a gallium-68 prostate-specific membrane antigen yielded 89.8% per-patient sensitivity and 91.5% per-patient positive predictive value in 150 individuals with prostate cancer, while 97% of patients didn't have adverse effects. The findings in the American Journal of Roentgenelogy "confirm high sensitivity and accuracy of PSMA-PET in this population and suggest an important role for this modality in guiding prostate cancer management in the future," researchers wrote.
