The FDA's Center for Devices and Radiological Health said that Bayer has retrieved almost all of its unused Essure permanent birth control devices, with only 10 unused units remaining on the market. CDRH Director Jeff Shuren said the company also completed enrollment in an FDA-mandated post-marketing study of the device with 1,128 participants.
