Liver transplant patients were able to avoid a biopsy by undergoing an ultrasound with shear-wave elastography, according to a study published in the American Journal of Roentgenology. Scores used to measure fibrosis after biopsies were similar to ones calculated after using ultrasound and SWE, the study said.
