Cleveland Clinic Innovations' annual list of the 10 medical innovations for the coming year includes a gene therapy for genetic disorders that cause sickle cell disease and thalassemia, a therapeutic monoclonal antibody for multiple sclerosis, pacemakers connected to smartphones and a new combination drug for cystic fibrosis. The list, presented at the 2020 Cleveland Clinic Medical Innovation Summit, also includes advances in telemedicine, new medications for migraine prevention, cancer and hepatitis C, and devices to stop maternal bleeding and protect the lungs of premature newborns.
